This pub features in the 2019 Good Beer Guide and is very much a local community pub, with a variety of traditional pub games and live music at weekends. It was friendly enough but felt a little run down, and the room we took our beer to had children running round and cartoons on the TV. There were 2 Banks beers including Mild, 2 Hobgoblins including Gold, Wainwrights and Eagle Youngs London Gold. Had the Hobgoblin and Eagle beers which were average quality.

A detached cottage-styled Marston's pub with lover level side extension, in white render, with a patio/smoking are at the rear. The pub dates to at least 1845. It has been closed and opened a few times recently and has been taken over again, since the last review.

The interior has two rooms, but three clear areas. The wooden serving bar is located to the right on entry, where there are a few tables and a small fireplace. The extension area was in fact a dining area at one stage, though no longer and ends with a slightly raised area where there is another fireplace. The dartboard is located in this area as well. There is also a small lounge at the back, again with its own fireplace. The decor is a mix of undressed brick, salmon and an eggshell kind of colour, with a white ceiling and beams. A few mirrors and photos decorate the walls, but it seems a little bare. The service has improved under the new ownsership, as has the general atmosphere of the pub. The clientele is mixed and includes families as well. The music was supplied via the radio. I didn't see a TV.

Beer; tap stuff with Woodpecker Cider. Banks's Bitter and a decnt MILD are always on hanpull usually with a guest or two, Hobgoblin at my last visit, along with the ubiquitous Pedigree.

This has always been a regular for me on Bloko visits, though it is a little up and down. It is worth a visit and hope that the present gaffers remain to give it some stability - a bit like the Coventry City of Bloko!

Re-opened and not a patch on how it used to be. New, discourteous staff that had little idea. The glasses were filthy and the first pint of ale served to our party was off. We declined the limited food offering due to lack of hygene, but this didn't stop one of our party becoming ill later on. The toilets were a disgrace and the small garden area to the rear needs serious attention. Not family friendly and very limited choice (just look at all the empty optics). We shall not be returning to this pub.

Went to this pub, its a back street local in a depressed area, the lease is up for sale by Marstons, a big corporation. However, I liked this place! I don't know why, but I liked it.

Its larger than the normal local, its not modern but it appears loved by both the owners and the customers. It has a few differnet seating areas, little areas, nothing posh, but there are little things here that make it interesting, little things that make a difference and its comfortable.

Very much a local, The current staff were friendly and the pub is welcoming.

I do hope the fire is lit in winter because that would make it so cosy!

Jennings Mild was kept well.

The Wheatsheaf is a decent looking pub that is away from the town centre.
There were two rooms inside and i went in the lounge this was a smart and comfortable room to have a drink in,this pub is a Marstons house and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Camerons bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Pedigree and Banks's bitter.
