I used the starting gate a few times some years ago. It was a fairly basic Banks's pub. It has been closed for at least 3 years now and the building is starting to look in a sorry state. The future doesn't look bright!

A detached, square, Georgian styled pub, with central entrance, in white and yellow render.
The interior is open plan and in two parts; with a bar and a pool/darts area. The decor is pine panel and beigey, with no real pictures or curios, except a large mirror over the fireplace. The service was fine, clientele small, but mixed. There was Sky TV. The place has improved a lot since i last visited, though the music was a bit deafening.
Beer; all tap stuff, no real ale, along with a fair pint of Banks's MILD
A bog-standard pub really, it seemed happy enough, just not quite strong enough on the drinks front for me to return to.
