This pub is set in what looks like a film set, right next to the church and with a cobbled street outside in the upmarket village of Grappenhall. It's a Robinsons tied house, and they have spend a lot to produce a smart interior ,which although modern has retained a lot of traditional elements. To the left of the entrance through a door is a carpeted lounge with fitted benches and a real fireplace while beyond the bar the tiled floor delineates a drinking area with a flat screen on one wall,so the village local feel has not been completely lost.To the right is more of a dining area but the low ceiling and wood burner are pleasing.Outside there are benches to the front and a decent beer garden at the rear.
The island bar has 6 handpumps with Robinsons ales in the shape of " Hartley's" Cumbrian Way doubled up,"Harley's" XB,Dizzy Blonde,Citra Pale and Broadoak.Beer quality was fine but Robinsons brew some dull ales IMHO.Lots of punters come to eat and all tables are numbered .A standard pub grub menu was offering mains between £10 -£15 ,a lot of emphasis on grills, while the specials are priced around the same level. We didn't eat so cant comment on that .Friendly service and pints at £3 is fair, but it seems more foody that pub and Robbies beers are nothing to write home about. The refurb ,though, has been done well.

Would certainly recommend this pub. The meals are excellent, and served by a friendly and efficient staff. Easily accessible from both M6 and M56 and situated in village surrounding alongside the church.
