A detached canal side Marstons pub, The frontage has two gables and is mainly in white render, with a central set of mock-Tudor chimney stacks. There is a large beer garden and flood lit car park. The interior is mostly open plan, a sort of U-shaped room main bar with a small lounge area. The bar has a pool table, a dart board and 2 TV.'s for sports and other events.
The decor is white, with duck egg blue wood panel and there is a nice brick fireplace (with a smaller one in the games area). There are plenty of old pictures on the walls,
The beer; a Marstons pub with the usual tap stuff and with Marstons Smooth and Bitter on hand pull,

A detached canalside pub, indeed, over the years, with the land subsidence due to the mining around it, it must have seemed to lower as the canal bridge rises and they have had to build-up the road outside to reduce its steepness. It is a nice build that is elbow shaped. The frontage has two gables and is mainly in white render, with a central set of mock-Tudor chimney stacks. The symmetery has been spoilt by the blocking of one entrance. There is a beer garden and child play area.

The interior is mostly open plan, a sort of L-shaped room main bar (allowing for the elbow shape of the pub), with a small separate dining room. The bar has a pool table, a dart board and a punchbag kind of thing in the corner, as well as Sky TV. The decor is cream, with wood panel and there is a nice brick fireplace (with a smaller one in the games area). There are plenty of old pictures on the walls, with some trophies and other ephemra. The service was fine and for a small interior, it was very busy, this may have been because a DJ was setting-up for the Friday night show.

The beer; a Banks's pub with the usual tap stuff and with Banks's MILD and Bitter on handpull, the MILD was excellent.

This is a good community pub. I have been a few times now and look forward to returning.
