Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Jolly Collier

The Banks's signage has now been covered from this 1960s estate-type pub (although the location is more light industrial), and the front terrace and façade look very run-down. The interior of the two-part front bar (plus pool area at one end) is marginally tidier but still very basic. There is also a lounge at the back, although this doesn't appear to be in regular use. No real ale available from the three handpumps, although the two with reversed clips suggest that it may be occasionally. Settled for a quick Mild (£2.65) before moving on.

Very accurate reviews below.
This place is friendly enough but not especially inviting. The building isn't great to start with and the lack of lights doesn't promote a cosy feel.
The beer though, Banks Bitter and Mild, is perfectly respectable and if overly frothy an extra half is supplied as a top up. Proper service.
A safe bet for a quick pint.

As Mr Soup says,an uninspiring 1960's building and on my trip all the lights were off at lunchtime ,I assume in an attempt to save on electricity.I notice this tactic employed at a lot of other pubs based in post industrial suburbs of the West Midlands.
However the front door was open ,and we headed to the public bar to the left where the gaming machines stood lifeless with the lecky off. However the electric pumps were working and dispensed a very reasonable pint of cask Banks's Bitter with a large lively head. The barman generously gave the two of us an extra half to top up the liquid, which I thought was a great touch and immediately endeared the pub to us.
The serving bar is clad in wood ,and at the pool table end of the public bar there is a seperate small drinks bar if that end is required for a private function. There is a community feel, and notices for crib, dominoes and darts show the pub is well used. There is a seperate lounge which is also surprisingly large and had a few customers who ring a bell to attract the barman to their side. The other cask ale was Bank's Mild, also on electric pump while keg Mild is also offered along side the usual keg lagers and cider.
With The Bush by the canal closed, this was a gentle stroll up hill and well worth the trip for a couple of lunchtime pints.

Soup Dragon left this review about Jolly Collier

A detached and unispiring 1960s pub with part white facade and patio area

The inside has two rooms but the lounge had its lights off when i visited. The bar had geen, grey and beige walls and wood panel, with a pool area, dart board and TV. The service was fine and the clientele mature locals, but very friendly, many saying goodnight as i left. There were a few jugs, books and ornaments around, and some old trophies. The main issue was that the seats needed re-covering.

Beer; all tap stuff with an excellent Banks's cask MILD on electric pump.

This place was very friendly and the beer was very good, though it had no real ale. I dont venture this way that often, but would happily go back.
