A decent pub with 2 ales on. My pint of Scrumdown (Something to do with the 6 Nations) was sadly off and had to be returned so we were left with the Speckled Hen. This was a decent pint though. The friendly and chatty barman advised us that he had put the Scrumdown back on and offered us a free half each to test it! A masterstroke on his part as we then had another pint of it. My usual one pint visit turned into a 2 pint call and I enjoyed it. Happy to call again.

The interior in here was pretty impressive, just the beer choice, GK IPA and Old Speckled Hen, didn't really float my boat. However the food was fairly decent and the service was superb, respectable place.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Old School House
Converted Corporation School dating from 1826 that has various seating / dining areas of mixed character although the exterior promises more. Also has a large pavement seating area. 'L'-shaped counter with a bank of four handpumps on each side, and as a Greene King pub I found IPA, Old Speckled Hen (£3.70, and a reminder of its former name) and Abbot as a duplicated selection on both.

Modern dining pub in Mere Green, there are some stools and tables in the 'bar' area where the floor is wood rather than the carpeted rest.
Loungy type place, very neat, but its relaxing and comfortable and personally a much better feel than the nearby Green House after similar trade, its all less formal.
Would like to try this place for the food in the evening, its ok for what it is.
3 real ales from Greene Kind, I felt obliged to try the Old Speckled Hen which was ok.

A detached cream rendered Old English Inn's chain pub/eartery that was formerly a Victorian school building, Ley Hill, i think. It als has a patio.
The interior is open plan nd in red and white, with some wood panel. There is a small bar area, which had bar stools and sofas, along with a TV with Sky Sports News on. Most of the place is given over to dining, with a 2 for £10 menu as well as dishes up to a tenner themselves - i didn't eat, so cant comment on that. The dining area had a mix of comfy seating and more rigid tables and chairs. There were a few pictures on the walls, but it felt a little bare. The service took and age, and i went to the loo and came back to find a bigger queue, but just when i was about to leave, the shopkeeper appeared and slaked my thirst, asking why i didn't like Greene King. The place was reasonalby attended by a mixed crowd.
Beer; tap stuff, with Peroni and with GK IPA, Old Speckled Hen (yes, seriously) and Westbury's Back of the Net on handpull. All Greene King owned, so i had a diet coke instead, with ice.
The building itself is nice and i am happy i have visited. I would'nt go out my way to return due to my personal dislike of Greene King stuff. Those in seemed happy enough though.
