Perfect Bathams Pub - Perfect Bitter and lovely ham sandwich with change from a fiver.

Nice beer garden which leads to parking around the back - if you can navigate the one way systems.

Perfect 10.

An excellent Batham's house this one, serving Batham's XXX, Batham's Bitter and a Mild. The pub was very busy on our Saturday afternoon visit, so the atmosphere was great. The pub has no music, gaming machines, so good conversation and good beer is the main emphasis here. They also serve some decent cobs and pies.

I was quite looking forward to coming here as it was my first "new" Batham's pub for over fifteen years. They took it over in the early 1990s after the death of the original owner. If you didn't know it wasn't an original Batham's pub you would never guess as it's the same formula, separate small rooms around the bar. I tried the mild (£2.30) here which in the warm humid weather was suffering a bit, shame really but if not enough people drink it then they will have to stop selling it. I'll overlook that as a blip and still strongly recommend a visit. There is a 20 minute daytime bus service to Wollaston from outside the Royal Exchange,

A detached Bathams cottage styled pub with rear patio area. It is in a sort of cream render with brown paint work around the sash windows, which now covers the quoin stones. The arrangement is somewhat irregular and it looks like two buildings knocked into one - or the side corridor and entrance have been added - as while the lower, larger etched windows are evenly spaced, the symmetry on those on upper storey and the chimney arrangement would freak a Georgian architect.

The interior has three rooms. The main room is to the left on entry. It is an 'L-shaped' bar room in a knobbly white artex decor, with carpet floor and a fireplace. It has HMS Unicorn pictures, as well as plates, tankards and various other ephemera dotted about and various prints and photos on the walls. There is a box room at the back, in the same decor, also with a fireplace and with a serving hatch to the bar. It also has an array of pictures and plates etc dotted about. Behind is the third room, which appears to have been a connecting corridor originally - in white brick, red tile floor and with art deco pictures on the walls. The furniture is a mix of settles and tables and chairs in good old traditional style, There is no TV that i have seen and there was no music. The service was fine and the place has been rammed out with a mixed age clientele on all three of my visits. The do the odd cob and pork pie for snacks - the pies being rather nice.

Beer; some of the usual tap stuff with a quality Bathams Bitter and Bathams MILD on handpull.

Sheer class. Completely agree with the Monster and other commentators. A must visit, as every Bathams house is.

This is a Fantastic former brew house originally established in 1859 which has been owned by Batham’s brewery since 1992. The pub is very traditional with Batham’s etched windows, a corridor down the right hand side of the building and two main rooms off it, a central bar counter serves both rooms. Across the front and down the left hand side of the building is the L shaped public bar, this has the main counter against the back wall of the front section of the room with fabric bench seats and an empty brick fire place in a dividing wall between the left and right sections of the room. On the other side of the wall is the part of the L shaped room that runs front to back of the building, this has a brick fire place in the left hand wall with a stove, a timber beamed ceiling, collections of old tankards and plates on shelves and various photos and paintings on the walls of Royal Navy ships which have been named HMS Unicorn. At the back of this area is a stone floored extension with red leather bench seats which has a door that leads out to a lovely well kept beer garden. The second room is at the end of the corridor in the back right hand corner of the building, this has a small serving hatch from the front bar counter, a large empty stone fire place in the left hand wall and wood settles.

Regular ales are Batham's Bitter and Mild with no changing guest beers. Many of my real ale drinking friends and acquaintances consider this to be the most consistently good pint of Batham's available and I’m inclined to agree with them. On this occasion I had a Bitter and it was spot on (GBG 2012).

A superb traditional pub with good character and great beer. The beer garden is one of the best kept in the area and is splendid for the warmer months as the pub is north facing which makes the garden a bit of a sun trap. This place is a must if you enjoy proper beer and old pubs and you are in the Stourbridge area. I shall continue to visit when ever I get the chance.

A fantastic Bathams pub with a very nice beer garden. The pub has a main bar, a room room round the back and a side hatch in the corridor. The Bathams Mild here is some of the nicest I've had (and I've had a fair few pints of the stuff!)
