Brenda Callaghan left this review about Lion Hotel

Re the Lion Hotel...Bridge Street, Warrington. I worked there from 1964, even helping out at Xmas time when I returned to Warrington from London for the holidays. Bill Medland was not "infamous" but a great boss. As was his wife Beryl. His daughter Victoria was a real cutie at 15 months old, and I remember Simon being born as well. At the time Bill was the youngest licencee around. He never ever let the staff walk home on their own, taxis laid on. Beryl was just as kind. And we had some "famous guests"........Kenny Ball's jazzmen.....cos I helped make the beds for them. Great times......

I last called in when it was being revamped about 3 years ago....I soon ran out! Parts of it dated back to 1690,hope its not been destroyed, and the footsteps across the ceiling had vanished. I have a photo of me on the"door" of the jazz club taken by an American when they came back in mid 60's
