Upping the rating of this, on the strength of their tap takeovers which happen on the last Thursday of every month. Excellent chance to try a range from a brewery.
Adding this review on a visit in the week before Xmas 23, where they had an excellent Oaskham Green Devil on cask.
In a town of relatively few decent options - this is worth checking out.
Another GBG 2019 Entry.
A converted Hogs Head - so it had a very wine bar feel to it. Even if they have added a dartboard. All high stools, high tables and music far too loud for a tuesday with a smattering of punters.
Noticed Butty Bach and Golden Glow amongst the half dozen hand pulls and a notice board showing what was coming next.
Might need a return visit for the TT Landlord.
Golden Glow in great condition - and £2.70 a pint makes it the cheapest I've bought for a long, long time.

As Quinno says,a lads bar with a few of them drinking at the exterior tables under a shade,inside it is large with high ceilings,a long bar along the far wall,lots of high tables ,a side section with some sofas and a darts board to the left.It's noisy and attract the young,but some old timer real ale types too.
Three handpumps with Thorndridge Jaipur IPA,Abbeydale Splendour and Hop Back Summer Lightening (ok but had better,NBSS 3.5).Good to see some strength and the reversed Saltaire Blonde could have been interesting too,so very worth while including this 2023 GBG entry into any crawl around town.

Did this on the strength of its GBG’23 listing. A former Hogshead, this is a ladz bar with the attendant cliches – quite barn-like, dim, high stools and very loud. Dart board spotted. Surprisingly there were six cask ales on including 3x Thornbridge. My McConnel's was in good shape (NBSS 3.5). Not my kind of venue but the cask quality made it worthwhile dropping in.

4 ales on when I called in including Titanic Cappuccino Stout, Oakham Below Zero and Kinver Full Centurion (A whopping 10% beer!)
It was a little early for the Centurion so I went for Below Zero which was excellent.
Well worth a visit.

A good sized pub with a modern style interior, which was fairly run of the mill. The lighting in here was very poor, maybe they turn more lights on in the evening time. Good choice of ales across eight pumps, we went for the Pictish Amphora and Nailmaker Paleton, both were so good we got another round. Another good point was the locally made veg samosas served hot or cold with a choice of salsa, only 50p each so we doubled up on them also, and they were a decent size. This pub is close to the bus and train station. Well worth a visit.

Called in out of curiosity really without knowing at the time it was a 2019 Good Beer Guide entry, and found a good selection of real ales across the bar. Chose the Fixed Wheel Single speed Cardinal which was very good. The landlord was friendly and chatty and the pub dog was entertaining with his howling.

This is a shop conversion bar right by the exit from the Transport Interchange. The World Cup was being shown on my visit so I didn't hang around.
It's a wide modern split level room with the bar at the back.
I noticed on the eight hand pumps that there were three Hopcraft beers and Tiny Rebel Apache. I went for the Hopcraft Neapolitan Stout (£3.60) which was going off and I should have sent back but just wanted to get away from the World Cup. Once again this is a GBG entry with a question mark over the beer quality but it was hot weather.

Rather different to traditional Black Country pubs, more of a converted office/shops structure, taken back. Structural pillars gives it a square grid interior.
Long serving bar in front when you go in, high stools and tables, some sofa seating at ends next to bare brick walls.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Red House Boutique
Bold red-brick building with café-style tables out on the pavement. The slightly split-level, 'L'-shaped interior is anonymously decorated and has a mix of semi-modern furniture, but as you enter the initial assumption that this might be a dull bar is dispelled when you see a line of eight handpumps on the counter directly ahead. There was an Oakham Ales tap takeover - featuring five of their beers, and more to come according to a chalkboard - when I stopped by, in addition to Roosters Wild Mule, Holden's Golden Glow and Enville Ale (£2.60). Handy for the station, and a very pleasant surprise.
