Soup Dragon left this review about The George

Formerly the George, this is a V-shaped corner bar and restaurant. Likely built to service the plethora of local industry nearby, the pub is certainly Victorian. It is in undressed brick, with blue brick string-courses and a dog-tooth cornice and central string course. Lower windows have stone surround and are pointed. The facade is pilastered and is in blue and yellow. The interior has a couple of rooms. The room i went into is in coffee and red, with a laminate floor - and retains something of its former dignity. There is a pool table, the TV wasn't on and the music was playing quite loudly from some music system. The tables were foody, but i saw no menus and nobody else in the room. The other room looked to have the same decor, with a zebra patterned chimney and a TV that was on. A few people were in there. The serice was OK. Beer; no real ale, or in fact, keg drinks - all beer came from the can/bottle - as i couldn't get a half, i had coke. No longer a pub, in the true sense of the word, I cant see any reason to visit - it must be a locals place.
