Soup Dragon left this review about The Royal Oak

A detached mainly undressed brick pub with some stone moulding. There are front facing gable ends in white render and black beams.

The interior has a couple of rooms, but the lounge was in darkness at my visit. The bar room is an L-shape that ends in a snug through an open archway. The decor is a red and cream stripy wallpaper, with wood panel and a white ceiling, with a red and cream tiled floor - the snub was just a cream and wood panel decor. There were lots of eclectic pictures on the walls, with sport featuring heavily, especially Man Utd and the Baggies. There were a few nice etched glass windows in the doors. There was a TV, showing the footy and a dart board. There was no music. The service was fine and the place did a few curries costing £4-5, though i didn't get to try one. The seat covers looked a bit tired, other than that, it was tidy enough and the clientele consisted of friendly locals.

Beer; tap stuff with M&B MILD and the two handpulls that had badges; Spitfire and Bass, were not on.

Sadly, the loss of the real ale means i wouldn't go out of my way to go in again, however, i was happy to pop in and try it - nothing wrong if you like keg beer!
