I recently visited this pub with my better half and kids and had a wonderful meal. If you can please my kids
then you are on to a winner and my kids were very pleased! I had the smoked haddock which was to die for and my
husband went for a rib eye. All was cooked to perfection and the home made fat chips are worth a second visit in
themselves. The staff were polite and made the whole experience a good one. Well done, shall be back soon

There are good and bad comments to be said, staff very welcoming as long as you don’t include mine host and his wife who will bear no criticism whatsoever even when you’re trying to make useful points!

To be told to hurry along with your order as the table is reserved for other customers in 35 minutes is ridiculous, especially when they find out the mistake is theirs! Should that not be check first?

Don’t get pushed into the “back room” which is really the bar with too many tables shoved into a small place! You can’t get to the toilet without excusing the interruption that’s caused to other diners eating their meals both on the way there and back!

Lastly while this may seem a downer on the whole establishment it’s not quite this bad, just don’t order extra chips as they are without doubt the most expensive few chips you may ever eat. 9 chips = £3.25

On the whole the food is very good, the Landlords wife is very prickly with a take it or leave it attitude that does her nor the business any favours!

The General Elliot has now re-opened under new management & is serving excellent food at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very pleasant & the staff are very friendly & helpful. If you are looking for an enjoyable dining experience I would highly recommend the General Elliot but I would advise you to book in advance as it is proving very popular with the local residents.
