Located in a less-than-promising area, this is a traditional two-roomer either side of the bar with fairly basic décor – I’m guessing a 70’s refit. The main bar (darts, pool) hosted a large group of bar blockers who rudely refused to budge out of the way so we could get to the servery and the staff were poor in not telling them to shift; so we immediately felt like outsiders. We clutched our beers and headed over to the right-hand room which was friendlier and hosted a few groups of middle-aged and elderly locals. The cask was uniformly GBG, halves of Three Tuns XXX (NBSS 3.5), Wye Valley HPA (4) and Church End Coffin Stout (3.5). Cobs also available. Well-worth a visit for the beer but the atmosphere didn’t sit quite right with me. 7.5

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Hawne Tavern

Excellent side-street pub with signage highlighting the local mining heritage. Retains two separate bars, with the larger one having the pool table and another partly opened-out room at the back (with a tidy patio beer garden beyond). Relatively light inside, with refurbished furniture and plenty of old photographs and ephemera on the walls. Good choice of real ales from a total of ten handpumps: HPA, Three Tuns XXX, Hobson's Shropstar (£3.50), Salopian Lemon Dream, Oakham Citra and Abbeydale's Moonshine. Also has Old Rosie cider on draught in the smaller, darker lounge.

A really good backstreet boozer. I hadn't visited the Hawne Tavern for over 30 years. I was a student at the time at the college up the road. Good selection of ales on with Salopian Prohibition, Abbeydale Deception, HPA, 3 Tuns XXX, Oakham Below Zero and Elland 1872 Porter. The 2 we tried were in fine shape. I won't leave it as long to visit again!

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Hawne Tavern

A good traditional pub and well worth a visit. We took a left into the large main bar area, which gave us a choose of eight ales on handpump. There was plenty of seating and a pool table to the far side. A pint of Salopian Rat Race in hand we went to look through into the right hand lounge area and then proceeded to the rear beer garden area. Friendly staff and locals, good pub to spend a bit time.

A tidy, no frills, Black country local. A drinkers pub, and with Bathams bitter, and 6 other real ales to pick from you should be able to find one or two to your liking. It was my first visit, though it wasn't long before I was engaged in friendly conversation with the regulars. Will be going back asap (and this time my colleague can drive.)

Danny O'Revey left this review about The Hawne Tavern

Traditional Black Country back street local. Old fashioned, but in a good way, lots of trinkets around. The bar appears to be a Swiss or German chalet, a bit different.

The seatin does need refurbishing as the cushion are worn out and a little hard.

6 real ales, the quality of which was absolutley spot on

John Horton left this review about The Hawne Tavern

Wonderful pub in quiet back street. OK I'm biased as this used to be my local for several years whilst living in the area. A couple of regular brews are supplemented by up to 5 constantly changing well kept guest beers (all real ales). The place, although located near to Halesowen Town FC, is a refuse for WBA fans (nobody is perfect). Basic good food at reasonable prices. Can get very crowded on Friday nights as this is a very popular locals pub. Most people park in the street as very limited car parking available.

Fairly basic Black Country local serving 7 real ales. Third visit and probably last as the atmosphere does not 'grow' on you. Disappointing as it could be better.
