Another decent Holden's pub. I arrived at about 2.55 on a Wednesday afternoon to find it shut. Fortunately there was a regular waiting outside for it to open at 3. There were 5 customers outside when it opened at about 5 past! Worth checking the opening times before you walk up the hill to it!
On the beer front the Golden Glow was excellent and the locals were friendly.

A decent back street locals pub, where we were made very welcome and also greeted by the pubs dog Bella. Holdens have refurbished the pub extensively both inside and out. The interior had a central bar area which had a stone clad bar front and a brass counter top. The floor was tiled in green and cream and the wall panelling was a sage colour. Brass lamps hanging over the bar and a wood burning stove were another added feature. There were three Holden's and a Holden's special on handpump on our visit. Their beers were well kept and the pub was comfortable.

Visit 13th December 2014
After my visit two weeks ago I found myself passing the door so had a look. The Holden's Black Country Bitter (£2.90) was outstanding, so I wonder if given the foodie style refurbishment they are trying to stock too many beers. I've upped the rating to 7 but I still don't really care for the new look of the place.
Visit 29th November 2014
After my attempted visit last September when it was closed for refurbishment, I arrived here today to find it open. I don't know what it was like as the Old Mill before but I'm guessing it was a fairly basic back street pub. Sadly they seem to have given it the same treatment that is happening everywhere in London with wooden floors and an emphasis on food. The mosaic tiled area where presumably the public bar once was is still there but there was no dart board. There was a restaurant area upstairs that I didn't investigate.
The beers on sale were all Holden's Golden Glow, Bitter, Special and Scary Face.
I went for the Special (£3.00) which was not in great condition.
I've no idea what the food is like here but the beer quality let it down for me on my visit. Holden's may well have done the right thing here for the area but I doubt if I will return.

UPDATE: - I visited this place again yesterday and the Golden Glow was excellent

A cream rendered cottag type detached Holdens pub in a back street
The interior has two rooms and is in white artex and fake beam, with some red. It feels straight out of the 70s, with the copper tables, brass ornaments and old photos, so yes, i loved it. There was Sky TV and darts. The service was fine and the clientele mixed
Beer; tap stuff, with Holdens Golden Glow and Bitter on handpull - NO MILD - why? The Golden Glow was a little cloudy and not great but to be fair, i didnt take it back and give him the option of changing it. There was also Oakham Bishops Farewell and Abbeydale Absolution.
Great choice of real ales, sadly the GG wasn't on top form and no Holden's MILD - which is my favourite drink. I liked the place though and will give it another try.
