A white rendered end-terrace pub, with dark red paintwork, having a central entrance flanked by bay windows. There is a rear beer garden area.

The pub is open plan, with a small area to the left when you walk in, in yellow artex. The serving bar faces you and the room continues around the bar, through an angled passage in exposed brick (where there is a dart board) which culminates in an extension that forms the restaurant. The decor for this is a creamy flowery wallpaper and wood panel, with mainly wood floor (some red carpet), some brick and with a white ceiling, with an open and part fake beam ceiling in the restaurant. There are a couple of a nice brick fireplaces and lots of pictures and other ephemera, including a plate and a real ale bottle collection. There was no TV that i saw and there was no background music. Their food is decently priced, and the mix and match sausage, mash and gravy very nice for £6. The service is fine, the clientele mixed and it is always busy.

Beer; tap stuff with 9 real ale handpulls on, the only ones i have seen more than once are Hosons Bitter and Hook Norton Old Hooky. I had Acorn Winter Pale Ale on the last visit, which was fine.

Yet more class in Gornal, another must visit place - brilliant. Always pop in here at every visit to the area.

First visit, April 2010: How spoilt the people of Dudley (and Gornal in particular) are to have yet another bostin real ale boozer and this one didn’t disappoint.

Hobson’s Town Crier, Greene King Abbot, Hook Norton Old Hooky, RCH Pitchfork, Enville Ginger, Abbeydale Exodus, Wood’s Shropshire Lass, Titanic White Star, Northumberland Bucking Fastard, three Belgian Beers and two Thatcher’s ciders were all on offer.

The pub had a welcoming feel, the bar staff were friendly, the toilet doors were marked up for Chaps and Wenches, in fact there wasn’t much that didn’t impress.

Update, November 2010: Still a very friendly welcoming place with a few other beer tourists sampling the ales. We were just too late for the lunchtime menu but the bar woman offered to ask the cook to stay behind. We said no because we didn't want to put anyone to any trouble and instead I had the biggest cheese and onion cob (or was it a loaf?) that took me about as long as a Sunday lunch to eat.

We were in a group of 10 and one or two of the group were impressed with the names of a few real ales that fitted their own personal description, namely Village Idiot and Idle Sod. I was having too much of a good time to remember to write down the names of all of the real ales but I had the Old Hooky and it was good.

Occasionally I receive a 2 word text message that states "Mmmmm Enville". That is my invitation to a wonderful night at this superb pub. Half way up (or down) a steep hill, it has a car park at the rear also used by the local Youth Club. The bar area is at the front & the food area at the rear, although food can be eaten in the bar. Several regularly changed superbly kept real ales supplement the regular brews (Enville Ale being one). Look out for Enville Ginger it's addictive. Some Belgian draught & bottled beers also available. The food is good, varied & very well priced. Extremely popular locals pub that welcomes visitors. One visit will never be enough, it's great! Wish I could give it 5 stars.
