Picture added was taken in 1979. I have many fond memories of The Anchor and it was my local for many years.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Anchor Inn

The Anchor was a solid looking town pub that was situated quite close to the Fiveways pub.
Once inside i went into the bar which was a decent but fairly basic room, there may have been a lounge to the rear but i did'dt see it.
The pub was a Banks's tied house, there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Banks's bitter which was a decent drink, the other beer was Banks's mild.
This was a decent enough pub to have a drink in.
