Holdens outlet. Two rooms and a conservatory; the lounge on the right is nice and is done-out in green and cream. All the Holden’s range on, I plumped for Golden Glow (NBSS 3.5) and the Bitter (4). It was here that I finally accepted I just don’t rate Holden’s beers…no quibbling over the conditioning, the alkaline tint is simply not my taste. As a pub it’s a decent visit if you do like their wares and better than the brewery tap (Park Inn) for my money.

Recent change of manager, the pub has been smartened up inside & out. New guy seems very keen, the Glow and Special bitter are on top form plus he's putting snacks on the bar on Sunday lunchtime plus curries, chillies and stews on Saturday night. Tiger cobs available too.
Worth a visit!

This is a strange looking pub from the outside. It looks like it was a tiny place that has had extra bits tagged on to it over the years. Inside there are two bars, with the saloon off to the right and a public bar to the left. I opted for the public bar which had a nice mosaic tiled floor and a dartboard. On the bar there were Holden's Mild, Bitter, Golden Glow and Special. I went for the Bitter (£2.25) which was cheaper than either of the two Spoons I visited that day and was in excellent nick. I suspect this pub may get overlooked for the more famous Vine which is a fair old walk away but it's a nice little pub that is well worth seeking out.

A detached Holden's pub, with patio area. It has been a pub since at least the mid-Victorian period. It looks like a white rendered cottage-styled pub, but it extends massively to the back and has a side conservatory extension that houses a dining area. The interior has two rooms served by a central wood bar. Off to the right is the lounge, which is a small room in red and white, with red velour seating, a brick fire, a few brasses and prints. a few old chaps were playing cards. The bar is to the right. Also in red and white, it allows access to the dining area. It has a few prints on the walls and a couple of brick fireplaces to offer interest, as well as a dart board and a TV (footy scores). The service was fine. The clientele was mixed, the dining area was being made ready for a family function. I have eaten here before and the food was decent enough - i had a mixed grill. There was no music. Beer; usual tap stuff, with a range of Holdens handpull beers; MILD, Bitter, Special and Golden Glow. The MILD was very good, as ever. I have been here several times in the past - along with the Vine, it is always the highlight of Brierley Hill. A must.

Now open 12-2 weekdays, this is a pleasent comfortable pub. Its what I find to be a typical Holdens pub, two bar areas & a modern extension/conservatory.

Its a traditonal local pub, red cloth benches/stools and a small bar area. Its nice, and the beer is kept very well.
