Old Peculiar left this review about The Dock & Iron

Currently closed and rumoured to being converted into a chippy, although no planning is evident.

Visited yesterday and it's seems a bit on the decline. No real ales available due to lack of demand/custom. Needs a new owner as on a sunny Saturday afternoon on entry there was somebody cleaning the windows inside as we appeared the only customers. Later on when walking back passed it seemed a little more patronised but comment from the barmiad did refer to it as a weekend only pub.

A detached cottage styled pub, in a French mustardy kind of colour, with red paintwork.

The interior has been done-up along with the exterior, however, this is in a more modern style. The decor is red and white, with a wood floor and the usual offering of twigs and arty pictures, it isnt however, over the top. There was Sky TV, the service was ok, the clientele absent.

Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter and MILD. On handpull there was Wychwood Dogs Bol***** and a poor Hobgoblin.

All in all, too modern for me, though it offers something different on the Delph Rd run. Beer wasnt good, so no return is planned
