Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Woodpecker

Estate-type pub close to a small neighbourhood shopping parade. Retains a two-bar layout, although the larger lounge was signed as closed for a (apparently non-existent) private function. Very plainly furnished and decorated, and just a few locals in. Small patio area out front, overlooking the small green. No real ale of course, and even the John Smith's was off, so had the Worthington Smoothflow (£2.70) instead.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Woodpecker

This is a detached 1950s styled estate pub with patio area. It was built on the site of Turves Green farm, as the whole area was developed between the 30s and 60s. The pub is a larger house style, which has some character as it has a projecting front gable. There is also a low-level extension. It is in white and plain brick. The interior has a couple of rooms, but the lounge, at the back, I couldn't really see. The bar has darts and pool and is a spacious room in red patterned paper, cream and wood panel. Red perimeter seating is in place but there is very little in the shape of pictures, so it appears a little bare. Several speakers are in the dart area, I assume for the DJ that appears at weekends. The service was fine and a few mixed locals were in. The TV was silent news and there is a jukebox, which was playing 80s stuff at a decent level. Beer; no real ale, just the usual kegs - I had a bitter shandy. A happy enough and brief stop off, but nothing for the real ale fan.
