Smart pub at the start of Kings Heath. Friendly service (and a very friendly dog!). Hobsons Town Crier, St. Austell Proper Job and Purity Mad Goose on when I visited. The 2 I tried were in good shape. Worth a visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Station

Sadly the eponymous transport facility has long since vanished (although the tracks are still on use), but this pub's façade has been given an attractive makeover indicating a new lease of life. This refreshed look extends inside too, although there are a few retro features retained but surprisingly little furniture in the two main rooms. Tapas and burger menu (and Spanish being spoken behind the bar). 6X (£3.80) and Tribute available from the four handpumps, with another being put on as I left.

A fairly innocuous pub at the start/end of the Kings Heath main drag. Though its mainly open plan it is sort of split into 3 lengthways. The colour of the inside is now olive green and not purple. The central servery has 4 handpumps on but these were a pretty weak selection of St Austells Proper Job, Marston's EPA and Greene King IPA, the Pedigree being off. It's a pleasant enough pub but its not great.

UPDATE: This pub has reopened. No MILD anymore and three handpulls; Doombar, Tribute and a deent enough Purity Mad Goose. Decor changed to purple and grey, otherwise fireplaces and tiling as before.

AUG 2010: A terraced cottage styled pub/music venue, with extension and there is a rear patio area.

The interior did have two rooms and the doors are still there, but they have been knocked through. The interior is an open plan L-shape (taking it as one room) and generally laid out for food, i didnt eat, so cant comment on that, with comfy seats. I believe there is another room, for the music, at the back, but i didnt see that either. The decor is cream and brown, with some silver patterned wallpaper, modern, but the one 'room' has a string course of green ceramic tiles and molded ceiling and there is a tiled fireplace to give a little heritage to the place. The service was friendly, the clientele mixed and the background music varied and at a decent level.

Beer; tap stuff, Purity Mad Goose, Black Sheep Golden sheep, Greene King Sun Dance and Ansells MILD on handpull. The MILD tasted very fruity, not sure what it was, but it didn't taste like Ansell's MILD

I was left a little frustrated. The place is fine, but the beer wasn't anything like what i expected. I was on half pints so i drank it as it wasn't on the turn. I would return though.

Fan-dabby-tastic pub at the top of Kings Heath High Street. Recently refurbished, but done very sensitively, incorporating its traditional charm with modern values. Very comfortable & relaxing pub in a trendy-ish area of Birmingham, the low background music of Travis fitted in very well. There is a beer patio, leading further up to a beer garden.

Excellent friendly service, 2-4-1 pizza special and numorous well kept real ales.

Loved it.
