Biggish two bar pub opposite the gate to Witton cemetery, an older building but modernised a few decades ago. Some older features remain like the tiling on the counter front and the Ansells signage. The right hand lounge was closed on my lunchtime visit with a steel faced door. the public was open and has a mix of tall and low tables with banquette seating and tall stools. No hand pumps just a collection of lagers with a couple of ciders, Guinness and John Smiths smooth crap. Screens and machines of course, basically a basic boozer. Also known as “the Diggers” due to its location no doubt.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Safe Harbour
Although deep within the Birmingham conurbation, this detached pub seems quite isolated with just a few mostly light industrial units and the expansive Witton cemetery for company. However, it retains its twin-bar layout, separated by the central servery, and while the bar (with pool table) is quite basic the lounge is comfortable enough. Sadly, the various handpumps on both counters are long disused, but M&B Mild was available at £2.40 so that was OK with me.

This is a detached pub, with an extensive patio area, which has a table tennis table. The place stands opposite Witton Cemetery, which opened in 1863. This place was likely built around then and named the Witton Hotel. It retained that name until at least the 1950s - it is also know locally as the 'Gravediggers'. The pub is in white render and has a Gothic look, with projecting, steep-pitched gables. The interior has a couple of rooms that are served by a central island bar. One side has the bar, which has pool and darts. It is in yellow and red, with a brick fireplace. It has a TV, showing the footy and there were no real pictures. The other side is the lounge. It is in coffee and brown, with white upper walls and ceiling. It has a brown carpet and brown covered perimeter seating. It has Victorian prints on the walls and a TV, also showing the footy. The service was fine and it had a good locals feel to it. The music was mixed, but a tad loud. Beer; no real ale, despite 3 handpulls - just the usual keg drinks with a decent enough Ansell's MILD. I would be more than happy to pop back, despite the lack of real ale - a tidy place, clearly distinct rooms, with pub games.
