Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Roost

A 'larger than one might expect' corner pub, now with an opened-out reversed 'J'-shaped layout. Refurbished at some stage, with more of a lounge area in the side branch, and decorated with football memorabilia (as you would expect, given its proximity to the St Andrew's ground). No real ale, unfortunately, and the only surprise on the keg front is finding Worthington's (£2.25) as well as John Smith's.

This is a Victorian corner pub, formerly called the Marquis of Lorne, with rear patio area. The pub has a brick upper storey, with cream window surround and brown pediments. The lower storey has its old corner entrance, etched glass, pilasters and some rustication - it too is in brown and cream (I think, it was dark!). The interior is now a single U-shaped room, having lost the internal rooms, although there is a small side area, where there is a pool table. The room is in white, with one wall of grey-ish wallpaper. Halloween decorations were all around, but the primary interest are the Blues pictures and memorabilia. There is a dart board. The TV had Vintage TV music on, at a decent level. I believe the place has not long been taken over and the service was friendly, as were the mixed clientele - I had a good chat to a couple of them. There was a lot of good banter between the locals. Beer; no real ale, the usual tap stuff with GK IPA and Bass MILD - sadly, I ordered a shandy before I noticed the MILD. I really enjoyed my stop-off here, I found it friendly. I would happily pop back for one - next time, the MILD.

Rather poor local within spitting distance of Birmingham City ground (believe me, I tried!).

Basic and not friendly, possibly because its a football pub, members only on match days. A little run down inside. The 'Blues' folk music is ok though. No real ale.

Under new management.

I cant believe the change in this pub compared to what it was like. It is well worth a visit - once you have been once you will want to go back for more - Well done to whoever picked this pub to be re-opened.
