A bar aimed fairly squarely at the theatre-goers and people going to the Symphony Hall. The exterior is pretty and there are some very nice stained glass and leaded windows. The interior has two bars. The front bar is quite Spartan compared to the carpeted rear bar; in both bars the walls are covered with theatre posters. There are a large number of handpumps but not many were actually in use on my visit, I think there were four beers on with a couple of interesting guest ales. Worth a visit if nearby but not on the ‘must-do’ list, though its position and set-up would make it more of destination on a sunny day, I think.

Don't know if this place has gone downhill since my last visit a while ago, but I was disappointed with beer range and quality. One beer was returned, and the other not really top condition. Both from Gargoyles brewery according to the clip. Thought they had been renamed Isca. The other clip with the stout on was handwritten.Greene King Moreland Old Speckled Hen, and St Austell Tribute on too. A lot of handpulls with no clips on in the back bar making the empty room look a little sad. Has quite a range of reasonably priced food available. Maybe Wednesday afternoon is not a good time to visit and when it gets full of theatre goers the whole atrmosphere will probably change.

Very good city centre pub close to a lot of action.Well kept selection of real ales and the front bar is traditional ,attractive and gives a great view of the totty staggering about on their high heels as they weave between the bars in the streets outside.Fortunately the traditional look of the Old Fox keeps the bar free from lager swilling pub crawlers. To the right of the entrance is a large, slightly dingy lounge with sofas and a younger crowd.

Large white painted corner pub near the Hippodrome Theatre

The front bar is like a small tap room with stained glass windows all around and a few dining style tables. The back bar is much more of a lounge with several sofas and comfy chairs. The walls are covered with theatre posters. Service is usually fine, the clientele mixed.

St Austell Tribute and Tetley Cask are always on, but they often have 3 or 4 other real ales - but what lets this place down a little is there is no regular MILD. Ironically, after whinging about that, i decided to review the place, as yesterday, a guest one was on. I had Backhouse Brewery's Hobs Hole MILD, which improved as the pint went down.

This place is always worth popping in if you are near

This pub advertises itself as a theatre bar which means that it gets busy pre/post performances at the Hippodrome and Symphony Hall nearby. The front bar is like a small tap room with stained glass windows all around and a few dining style tables. The back bar is much more of a lounge with several sofas and comfy chairs. The walls are covered with theatre posters as you might expect. There are at least 10 handpumps but I've never seen all of them in use. On Wednesday at about 8 they had Tetley Bitter, St Austell Tribute and Old Speckled Hen which are regulars plus a couple of guests on in the front bar Goffs White Knight and Hanbys Wem Golden Honey. The Goffs was a well kept pint, drunk whilst talking to the friendly and chatty staff who were pretty efficient as well. It's been in the GBG since 2000 and quite rightly.

Some poor quality real ales. Over the road from the Hippodrome Theatre so you get some theatrical types in there. Fairly comfortable furnishing but I'm very uncomfortable about the clientele as they're not of my persuasion. Definitely a gay bar.

An OK pub situated in the gay quarter of Birmingham. Does sell guest beers but the quality can be a little iffy. Pretty pricey too - a bottle of Magners retails at £3.50!
