Large high street pub which opens at 9 and gets the early drinking trade. 2 beers on when I visited - Bombardier and Wainwright. Nothing special but not too bad!

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Goose

Substantial, High Street pub with an expansive Brewer's Tudor façade and an opened-out layout hinting at two original bars (both of which would have been large in their own right). Unfortunately, it's now all dull decoration and a mix of semi-modern furniture. Plenty of screens showing TV sport, but these were being drowned out by some quite loud music. There were also some Stonegate menus on the tables, but unsurprisingly nobody seemed to be eating. Notwithstanding this, Bombardier (£2.60) and Purity Pure UBU were being dispensed from the two banks of handpumps.

A large open plan Wetherspoons wannabe. The place is a large oblong with the bar in front of you as you enter. There are 2 banks of 3 handpumps with only Doom Bore and Bombardier on today. Its probably chaotic in here on a Saturday night.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Goose

The Goose is a Stonegate pub and eatery. The pub (former hotel) is built on the site of the King's Heath Brewery and old Pear Tree (18th century), later Cross Guns pub, sometime around 1905. It is in coffee wood beam, with white daub and has several small front gables. The interior is far less interesting than the history of the site. It is an open plan, L-shaped pub in the Spoons fashion. It has lots of TVs (a large screen too), which were showing sport and sport photos on the walls. The decor is the typical red, grey and various patterned wallpapers and there is a pool table. They do food, but we didn't eat. The service was fine and the place very busy with a mixed clientele. Beer; usual tap stuff with Wye Valley HPA, Slater's Top Totty and a fairly poor Salisbury Somer on handpull. Not the greatest visit, but clearly popular.
