UPDATE: This pub is for sale, and had a note on the window the other night saying "Sorry, closed", so I assume it wasn't just for the night. Shame.

(Jan 2010) A detached brick triangular corner pub in red and white.

The interior has two rooms and is in red, white and yellow. The bar has pool and Sky TV. The service is fine to functional depending on when i go in and the clientele are locals, so feeling a bit of an outsider i tend to go sit in the lounge (as i can get a seat in there) The lounge has a fireplace and a few old photos for interest.

Beer; all tap stuff, with usually a pretty decent Ansells MILD. There was a Spekky Hen handpull at last visit but this wasn't on.

I never feel this pub is friendly, neither do i feel it is unfriendly, i tend to go for the Ansells MILD and clear off after the one.

The Globe is a corner pub that is situated in the back streets just off the busy new town road.
Once inside there was a large bar to the front left, this room was very basic witha lino floor and bench seating around the sides of the room, there was a pool table in the middle of the room and the Tv was showing horse racing.
There is a smaller lounge to the right which was carpeted,i had a drink in the bar, there were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of keg Ansells mild which was ok,the other beer was Tetley bitter.
There were a few locals in and i had a quick chat about other pubs that were nearby, they seemed friendly enough to me.
This is a proper pub and the sort that are closing fast,i am pleased to have done this one.

I love this pub! Though not a regular due to distance, I have paid it many visits whenever I can and usually bring people with me. They sell all decent beers, serve great food, it's just like how pubs should be and once were. The staff are not pretentious but friendly and relaxed. Very down to earth and great for a good drink. I have been to a few parties here and they have all been brilliant. I will be paying many more visits in the years to come. Very highly recommended.
