Basic, rather run down back street corner pub. Looking very tired inside, needs a bit of TLC as everything appears worn.

There is a pool table in the back room.

No real ale & the keg offering was undrinkable.

This is a corner pub, with smoking area. It is a Victorian pub, mainly in plain brick, with heavy lintels. The lower frontage is in green and white, with pilasters and three entrances - the corner one still being used. The interior has two rooms, laid out in an L-shape. The back room is in two-tone green, red lino floor, a pool table, basic bench seats, a TV showing us being humped at cricket and some very old faded prints are on the walls. The lounge has a carpet, and is in lighter green - yes, it is an Irish pub! Old photos, brasses and other bits of eclectic stuff are dotted about, as well as there being a TV with racing on. The music was soft and mixed. The service was fine and the place is clearly for locals, but friendly too. Beer; usual tap stuff with M&B MILD, which was fine. It has been a few years since i have visited and i really like this traditional place, pity it doesnt do a real ale.

I'm surprised to be the first to review the Fountain given the dedicated band we have in the Midlands, perhaps its location in a dreary area of 1950s light industry with added desolation doesn't help. It's an L shaped corner pub with two rooms, the counter is in the front room with a pool table and big screen the attractions next door. The ages tend to split across the two rooms as well but not exclusively; younger people using the larger pool room, oldies in the bar sitting on the comfy chairs. The landlord, a very tall man, is old school and was wearing a suit and tie on a very busy Friday night. I would guess everyone, except me, in the pub were regulars, that is what this pub is about, no frills, no real ale just happy regulars and you can tell they love their local.
