Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Duck

Substantial Beefeater pub / restaurant beside a Premier Inn, so you will know exactly what to expect. Only points to note are that the interior is relatively uncluttered and there is a front beer garden area. Two handpumps on the counter, although the Doom Bar was being changed so went for the (sadly indifferent) Abbot (£4.35).

Not the most inspiring of pubs. A fairly typical Beefeater. 2 ales on my visit - Sharps Atlantic (which wasn't on) and Hobgoblin which was OK. The barmaid had a bit of trouble pouring it and I got a short measure but fair play for giving me another half to make up for it - extra point for that!

This is a Beefeater Steakhouse with an adjacent Premier Inn, that also has its own beer garden. The place is a modern build, which is sympathetic to the history of the area (ironic as so many later buildings are not) that has a three-storey brick Georgian stlye build (with sash windows and neo-classic entrance) and a lower level side extension, with front gable, that is in white. The interior is forgetable, i think, with its light blue decor, wood floor, mix of high stools and general tables and that stupid cow art. There is no TV and the music was pop-ish and at a decent level. The service was OK and the clientele was mixed - and it was quite busy. I didn't eat, which is really their core service, but i tried the single real ale - Wadsworth 6X, which was fine. Fearfully dull.
