Nice looking pub with plenty outside seating. Landlord and a decent Wainwrights Gold on offer. A couple of TV's showing the snooker and a handful of locals in. Happy to have called in.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dog Inn

Traditional village pub, not fronting what is now the main road but a side street that must once have crossed the railway with a level crossing before this was replaced by a footbridge and separate road bridge by the station. Retains two separate bars, both refurbished in a semi-modern style, with wooden benches out on the cul-de-sac and a rear beer garden - all quite busy on a sunny midweek evening. No handpumps on the lounge / dining area side, but Landlord (£4.20) and Pedigree available from the other counter.

A detached pub, with patio and beer garden areas. The pub, I believe, dates back to 1722 and has grown organically since. The original cottage can still be made out, but at some stage, likely the 20/30's, a mock-Tudor frontage was added to the pub, a beer garden and the car park formed from what was a former stock yard business. The interior has a couple of rooms. To the side there is the 'tearoom', where people dine. This was empty at my visit (stopped serving). I only got a glimpse of this room which appeared to be in a more modern look; with white and coffee décor, white and beam ceiling, with some books and arty art on the walls. The bar is more traditional, being in red and brick, with a cream and beam ceiling. It has a brick fie one end and a smaller tiled fire the other. There is a dart board and a TV, showing Sky Sports. Along with hanging jugs, there are pictures of the local footy team and other odd bits of ephemera on the walls. The music was general and at a decent level. The service was fine and the clientele mixed, local and friendly. Beer; usual tap stuff with Golden Hen, Doombar and a decent Old Hookey on handpull. It was great to visit this place for the first time since I was a kid and it didn't disappoint. Nice atmosphere and a good Hook Norton beer. I would return.

Unusual building inside, slightly old fashioned, but none the worse for it. Theres a bar and a lounge and the pool table is in the lounge! Exposed painted beams, looks like the top floor has been taken out in parts, giving a slightly 'barnlike' feel. There is a large indoor grilling area in the lounge as well.

Slightly quirky, its friendly and seems a nice place to pop in for a pint.

3 real ales, including Tribute during my visit.
