Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cavalier

Proper, old-school estate pub; but unlike so many others, this one is not only still open but thriving (at least on a Saturday afternoon). Basic, and seemingly unaltered, twin-bar layout given a perfunctory refurbishment at some stage. Two very disused handpumps on each counter, so made do with a keg Worthington's (£3.20) before moving on.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Cavalier

A detached 1960s estate pub that takes its name from the fact that the roads are named after Civil War battles and figures. It is an unusual pub in that it is built on uneven ground and is a little more decorative that the usual brual 60s stuff. It has the usual 'house' with low-level extensions, but is in brick and white, with quoin stones. The interior has a couple of rooms but the back lounge was in complete darkness. The bar is i slightly curved room in cream, brown and red, with blue lino floor and bench seats and stools. A few generic prints are on the walls - dogs playing pool etc. There is a dart board and a pool table. There is a jukebox, although there was no music. I didnt see a TV. The service was friendly and a good mix of locals were in. Beer; two pulls but no real ale on, just the usual keg stuff with Banks's MILD. I just had a shandy. Seemed friendly enough, but nothing for the real ale fan.
