I found myself in here for a quick pint (pre-lockdown 1) on a Saturday early evening, whilst waiting for a pre-booked train back to London. Wasn't expecting much as it's fair to say it's not the most impressive looking building, but actually it was quite busy and drew a mixed, relaxed crowd, which gave it a nice, chilled atmosphere - perhaps people stopping off after a visit to the Bullring? Had a Guinness whilst watching the 2nd half of a footy match - thankfully no commentary as there was music playing over the top of it. Bar staff friendly and got served quickly at the bar. Would go again next time I am in Brum, would have liked to have stayed longer as it looked as though you could have quite a good evening in here, or even pop in for a quiet pint.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bull Ring Tavern

Basic, single-room market pub which has (very limited) ups and (much more frequent) downs over the years. Given a very modest refurbishment by the current owners (Craft Union) so it at least looks tidier than in previous years. Initially relatively quiet when I ventured in mid-evening, but the reggae (on an admittedly decent sound system) was suddenly turned up to the max. Still no real ale, but at least keg Worthington was available as an alternative to the inevitable John Smiths, and at a remarkable £1.85.

A basic one roomed pub by the Bullring market. A pool table is to the left of the bar and the pub is a bit tatty but not the worst. No real ale to be found.

Came in here on 26 April. Its had a bit of a paint job, predominantly blue, some tables have gone to be replaced by a pool table, there is now a screen showing Sports, and the M&B Mild has gone, leaving an average Banks's Mild.

Something is now very different. The atmosphere has changed. The 70s charm has gone. I will not hurry back.

I concur with Soupy. A 60s/70s style pub with an 60s/70s clientele. I expect Gene Hunt to burst in and start arresting people whilst downing several pints.

This should be everything I hate about a pub. Old fashioned, full of strange people, ugly and just plain weird.

Yet I love it! I pop in whenever I can. Which is not often enough.

The pub occupies the ground floor of a corner 60s office block building. It is painted in red and isnt the most appealing to the eye.

The interior is open plan and, like the exterior, very 60s/70s, with thick brown paint as the main decor, with cream and white. There are no real pictures or ephemera, so it is a bit bare and the great classic jukebox has now gone, to be replaced by something more modern. There is a TV and a CCTV monitor to watch. The pub is basic, you even need a key for the bogs - yet i always visit it, because the people, many from the market over the road, as well as the bar staff, are friendly and its full of real Brummies - where i lived for over 20 years. Service is usually good.

Beer; all tap stuff, with good Banks's MILD and M&B MILD on - sadly, the Chestnut MILD went with the jukebox. No real ale, sadly.

No pretentions, a down to earth and strangely appealing pub. It will not be a lot of people's cup of tea, but despite no real ale, i like it.
