This is a detached pub with patio area. It services a 1970s estate, which was shoe-horned into an area between the 1950s houses and was once a part of the Cole Hall sewage works. The pub is a Banks's pub, and in undressed brick, with a two storey larger building and a smaller extension. It has a place in my heart as it was the first pub i went into, and I once played in the footy team. The interior has two rooms, sadly the larger U-shaped lounge that i frequented is now used for functions only, and was in darkness at my visit. The bar room was open, and had just one other person in. The room is in brick, with a white ceiling and red tile floor. It has a pool table and dart board, an empty trophy cabinet (testimony to our success as a footy team!). Some Villa and Blues memorabilia is on the walls. The service was fine. An old TV was on in the corner (not sure what) and there was no music. Beer; no real ale, just the usual tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter and a decent enough MILD. Good to see the pub still open, and it was nice to be back.
