Another refurb and The Brasshouse has regained some of its original dark panelling and comfy seating. For its location on the 'alleged' city golden mile The Brasshouse is both friendly and reasonably priced with main dishes coming in at £5 plus and a pint costing around £3. All in all one of the better pubs on Broad Street and handy for The Sealife Centre, ICC, Symphony Hall and National Indoor Arena

A large, multi-area'd pub at the City end of Broad Street, adjoining Brindley Place and the canal. Its in a trendy, night club location and therefore gets busy evenings with a younger crowd. Its a bare boards/hard wood chairs kind of place, but still comfortable and worth a punt if Broad Street is your bag.

Perhaps surprising, consdiering its location, its one of the Value pubs that are dotted around the City, so the food and beer prices are very reasonable. Its the same menu as places like the Shakespeare and The Troc.

Staff seem friendly and serve was good.

3 beers on and, as review below, the Taylors Landlord was pretty ok.

Massive L shaped Wetherspoonalike bar with little in the way of interesting features although the bare brick and wood décor looks pretty good. Everywhere was very clean and the chatty barmaid was very efficient. There are a couple of huge TV screens and a quiz machine. Six handpumps on the bar but only three were on. Banks’s bitter, TT Landlord and Pedigree. I had a Landlord which was surprisingly good. It’s OK but there are a lot better places hidden away round here, none of them actually on Broad Street though, so get off the main drag and discover them.

Large pub with lots of dark panneling and brass. Wide range of well kept beers and lagers as well as wine by the glass. Extensive range of food from bar snacks to full meals. Function room available - seperate restaurant area but no parking close by

UPDATE JUNE 2008

Now tastefully refurbished the Brasshouse retains its historic past whilst now having a contempary modern feel with light wooden flooring and an end to the dark paneled ceiling. Food ranges from shared platters to fish and chips, sandwiches and steaks...still one of the best pubs in this part of the city

Good pub. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with a large selection of ales and a reasonably priced, comprehensive menu. Far better than the dire "Malthouse" further up the tollpath!
