Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Brasshouse

Situated along the lively Broad Street and alongside the canal network, the Brasshouse is another pub that I haven't been to since 2012. Advertised as open until midnight, they were cleaning up when we arrived, but still served us as it was well before midnight. However, unlike the Prince of Wales where we had just been, service here felt a bit more rushed and staff were eager to get us to drink up and out of the door.

The real ale range has improved since I was last here, with a choice of 6 on. These were Wolfpack Second Row, Purity Bunny Hop, Thornbridge/Timothy Taylor Artesian, Silhill Blonde Star, Sharp's Doom Bar & Green Duck The Storm. Craft beers were Beavertown Neck Oil, Purity Longhorn, Tiny Rebel Easy Livin' & Thornbridge Rock City IPA. I'm not sure this is the sort of location where 6 ales could be kept in a decent condition, as Broad Street is otherwise pretty much the place where you go to party and drink yourselves silly on cocktails, spirits and fizzy lagers. However, all credit to them for dispensing real ales. The ones we had were certainly drinkable, but not the best I've ever had.

Certainly an improvement on what it was.

Enjoyed our visit to this popular bar which was in full flow of diners. We chose a Black Sheep ale Baa Baa which was OK.

Probably the best pub on Broad Street. Brewdog Punk IPA and Camden Pale Ale on draught along with a few other ales including Brakspear and Black Sheep.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Brasshouse

No major changes here , still my pick of the pubs in this part of town , service is still friendly and the choice of beer has improved with 4 from the Marstons stable and 2 from Backyard , The Hoard and Gold both in great shape , had a bite to eat as well and it was good and not to pricey .

As described elsewhere. Its a nice pub and not as expensive as some in the city centre.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Brasshouse

Pub is as described in the previous reviews with seemingly no changes in decor .
Fairly busy on my Saturday lunchtime visit with a more up-market feel than some of the nearby pubs .
Five handpulls with all the beers from the Marstons stable , my Banks Sunbeam was pretty good .
I enjoyed my visit here , a friendly comfortable pub with good service .

Soup Dragon left this review about The Brasshouse

The Brasshouse is a pub/eatery with patio area. The front part of the building and Brasshouse passage are all that are left of the foundry built in 1781 by the newly formed Birmingham Metal Company to produce the alloy in the town. The works had disappeared by the time of the first OS maps, although the area remained industrial (pin, button and other works). By 1885 it was a Water Works office. It is in brick, with moulded stone door and window surrounds, and a balustrade. I frequented this place quite a lot in the late 80s/early 90s, when i worked on Broad St - then it was a bit of a place-to-be (so not sure how i got in). Anyhow, it is broadly speaking an L-shaped place, although it has lots of side areas, such as 'the boardroom'. The decor is one of exposed brick and varios coloured patterned wallpapers (red and wood panel in the boardroom!) and old prints and photos adorn the walls. They do food, but i haven't eaten here yet. There are TVs, which had various things on and the music was very soft. The service was fine and the place was pretty busy with a mixed clientele. Beer; usual tap stuff with Brakspear Oxford Gold, UBU Gold, Backyard Bitter and Hoard and a decent enough Timothy Taylor Landlord on handpull. It is the kind of place you will always be happy enough to nip into for one, especially to look at an 18th century industrial building - and one that has lasted longer than most around the area.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Brasshouse

A busy pub this one, hence it's position. It has a good outside seating area and enjoyed a bit of alfresco drinking and people watching. Has good service so you don't wait round long when ordering a drink. They are also busy with food, so they must be doing something right. Enjoyed a few from Bank's Brewery.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Brasshouse

Large, 'L'-shaped conversion operated by Stonegate along the lines of a Wetherspoons. Partially opened out to form various seating areas. Modern furniture and decor. Plenty of food offers. All six handpumps in operation: Pedigree Diamond, Jennings Tom Fool, Marstons Merrie Monk, TT Landlord, Banks's Bitter and Banks's Sunbeam (good value at £2.55). Cask Marque accreditation. Overall, rather better than I expected.
