From the exterior - netted curtains pulled to and a front door open - this could have contained anything.

I was surprised to find a really neat, classic interior with a smart front bar and a real impressive "snug" with leather bound benches and a big Atkinsons Aston Ale mirror.

No real ales but the Staropramen was good and really very cheap.

Can't judge a book by its cover!

Called in here many times over the years. Its a decent pub but no real ale. Happy to call in for a lager now and then!

No real ale, but this is a really nice pub with a quality wooden bar counter with hooks. A tradtional pub with leather seating which would be a real destination pub with the addition of one or two real ales. My drinking companions were getting stuck into the various food offerings, while I contented myself with a swift half of execrable Sharps Wolf Rock 4.5%. Did I mention that there's no real ale here?

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Big Bulls Head

Quite a surprise here, in a place I have always previously avoided, which turns out to be quite an attractive traditional two-bar pub. The main bar has been given a refurbishment in a unexpectedly light style which works quite well, but the substantial dark-wood bar-back remains. There is also a separate bar and dining room to the side, served through an oversized hatch. Furthermore, real ale - in the former of Sharp's Atlantic (£3.10) - turned out to be available too... Hardly great, but it's always good to have one's expectations confounded and exceeded in a positive way.

The exterior was covered in scaffolding on my visit which made it looked closed. However it wasn't and inside I saw at least 2 rooms. I only went in the small bar so don't know what the other looked like. In the bar was a pool table to the left of the bar and next to that was a narky bloke. The bar had one handpump on that was reversed. It wasn't too bad a pub but it wasn't great. As long as the scraggy haired tit isn't in then the pub is just about acceptable.

Doesn't look much from the outside but this is a fine traditional decorative Brummie local , next to the Institute music venue. Two high ceilinged rooms, lovely bar with mock leather benches, chandeliers and two fine fireplaces (one filled in). Huge traditional mirrors and wood pannelling printed red and cream.

Also a decorative lounge bar. Good priced comfort food (faggots, beef stew etc).

Very traditional local, and all the better for it.

One real ale - Wye Valley HPA of average quality.

A Victorian corner pub and B&B, in undressed brick and dark red.

The interior has two rooms, a large bar in red, cream and wood panel, which has a large screen TV with the sport on and a pool table. The small lounge is for dining, and we often use this place as it is good value, good food and its a nice little room - in cream and wood panel, with red leather seats and a TV for the footy. The service is fine, there was no background music and the clientele mixed - although can be a little rowdy on days when the Blues have played.

Beer; no real ale, all keg stuff, but the M&B MILD is fine

Despite no real ale, we use this place often for the food, as we know its ok and reasonably priced (see web link i added). I dont really use the bar, just the little lounge and as long as the MILD stays on, we will visit to eat
