This pub is still there, damaged and boarded-up - has been for seven years or so, so i can't see it ever returning as a pub.

i am so sad to see what has become of this pub - i lived in the area from 1998-2002 and used to drink in there regularly. the front bar had a stunning plaster ceiling and all the origonal fittings, and the back room still had the old snugs. You would geta real mixture of people - elderly men playing dominos, workers in overalls, and young broke professionals like me. the landlord was called Don (I think) from jamaica and came over in the 50's.. he used to hold regular beer festivals with real ale and carribbean food (with Ruby Sheila mild a favourite). i was told that he had debts and couldn't pay the bills, so the pub got run down and was eventually closed. i've rolled out of there many a time after a lock-in in my mis-spent youth! does anyone else remeber this pub as fondly as i do (apart from the toilets, which were still firmly stuck in the victorian ages!!)
