Soup Dragon left this review about The Acorn Inn

This is a detached, very late, Victorian pub. Built (or coverted, as there was an existing building on the site) as the area was redeveloped, around 1900, it is of three storeys along with a low-level extension. It is in white painted brick, with a black pilastered and pedimented lower frontage. The interior has a couple of rooms, served by a central island bar, that lead from a green glazed tile entrance passage. The back room has a serving hatch - it is in red and white with a pool table. The main bar is at the front. It is in cream and there is a TV which had general programmes on. The old red bench seats are still there and a few old photos are sparingly on the walls. The service was friendly and the place was frequented by locals. The music was mixed and at a decent level. Beer; no real ale, no MILD, just basic keg drinks - i just had a shandy which was fine. Some nice architectural features, but nothing for the real ale drinker.
