Another 60s looking detached and dull brick build. A Banks's pub.
The interior had two rooms, a bar that i did not see and a lounge that had a far more traditional feel to it than the exterior would suggest. It had a creamy patterned wallpaper, with an eclectic mix of pictures and prints, as well as fancy lights, fittings and curtain vallances. It was very quiet in the lounge and the service was fine despite an overcharge on my drinks. The bar was better attended and had pool, music and TV.
Beer; tap stuff with an OK Banks's MILD and Ringwood Old Thumper on handpull.
All in all, it had more good than bad points, and i would give it the benefit of the doubt and return

The Gate Hangs Well looks like a pretty ordinary estate pub in the hurst hill area.
Once inside i went in a smartish and comfortable lounge and i was surprised to see three handpumps on the bar i had a drink of Batemans XXXB and this was very nice the other beers were Marstons Old Empire and Banks mild.
I was quite happy having a drink in this pub.
