Moby Duck left this review about Raglan Arms

A comfortable Black Country Ales pub with as mentioned before twelve handpumps offering eight ales and three Ciders available on my visit, I opted for a pint of Electric Bear Creme Bearlee which went down a treat. A decent pub that I didn't completely warm to despite the cool temperatures outside, that said I'd certainly revisit.

The Raglan Arms is now run by Black Country Ales and if previous reviews are anything to go by, much improved by the move to the Black country stable. It’s still the same layout as before with a nice separate snug room to the left and then a largely open plan space that has the bar in the top right hand corner and an area with a lounge feel that stretches away from the bar back towards the front door.
On a cold November evening there were real fires burning away in both the snug and lounge section of the bar and the place had a very homely feel, something that was continued when you got to the bar and saw the range of ales on offer.
The bar supports an impressive line of twelve hand pumps and alongside three Black Country brews ( BFG, Pig on the Wall and Fireside) was a very good line up of 9 guest ales and ciders of varying styles and strengths in the form of Snails Bank Fruit Bat, Mitchell and Butlers Brew XI, Newbywyke Brewing Banque Pale Ale, Heritage Brewing HPA, Beartown Crème Beerlee Stout, Mallinsons Cascade, Gwynty Ddraig Dog Dance, Bewdely Brewery Worcestershire Sway and Titanic Plum Porter Special Reserve. All beers were priced between £3.95 and £4.25 a pint with the exception of the Titanic Special Reserve which was £6.00.
A couple of these had gone, seen off by a group who were leaving and passed the baton over to us as we entered. These then included the Titanic Porter, which went in the act of the Landlord pulling my pint, but the Beartown Stout was an admirable substitute.
This is a well-run pub by a landlord that knows his onions and as well as offering to put a couple of new ones in the cellar on for us showed a sense of humour when pointing out that the Plum Porter Special Reserve was £6.00 a pint, retorted to my joking reply of “that’s OK , I’m from London” with, sorry I meant £6 a sip.”.
I found this a very comfortable pleasing pub, especially on a cold winter’s afternoon.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Raglan Arms

Somehow, I have never managed to visit this Black Country Ales pub on my previous visits to Rugby, so I was pleased to fit it in this time. Usual comfortable, traditional interior you would expect from this West Midlands chain, with various seating / dining areas in a semi-open layout. I found three of their own beers, five guest ales - including the freshly-on Mallinsons Cascade - and a trio of ciders available from 11 of the bank of 12 handpumps (with the electronic beer menu being slightly out of date).

Old school boozer - a little rough looking around the edges and smell slightly of damp on entry.

Bar Billiards and a tiny little snug room, just off a main room that goes back deep.

Good pint of London Pride. Friendly staff

A nice enough pub at the side of Rugby School. Basically an open plan pub but with 2 areas, with the rear area housing the bar. 8 handpumps on the bar, though for a Camra POTY winner, I was a bit disappointed by the rather pedestrian beer selection on my visit. That said, it is still a decent pub.

ROB Camra left this review about Raglan Arms

A neat looking pub on the outskirts of the town centre facing Rugby school. Multi roomed with a snug and a darts room along with the bar area which is up a few steps. It's won lots of CAMRA awards which are displayed in the pub and is listed in the CAMRA GBG 2014. A somewhat pedestrian ale selection on the bar with several GK beers and London Pride. My pint of Abbeydale was in very good nick though. I thought it was a good solid pub, but if I was pushed for time when in Rugby I'd miss this one out.

Situated opposite the grand Rugby School, this is a pleasant traditional pub with an interesting multiple room layout. You enter into a long corridor from which a couple of front rooms can be accessed. To the left is a smart little lounge with carpeted floor, padded bench seating, lots of old pictures on the walls and an open fireplace with a high mantelpiece displaying a large vase. There is a nice bay window on the front wall and I noticed a dresser with a load of CAMRA magazines on top in one corner. A larger, public bar style room can be found further on to the right. This is also carpeted and has a mix of banquette, standard and low stool seating, a nice tiled fireplace and some optimistic England bunting. A TV screen was on one wall, but turned off during our stay and the walls had a few CAMRA certificates on show. The main bar can be found at the end of the corridor where it opens out into a long carpeted room with old pictures of Rugby on the walls, pump clips running along a high shelf and a couple of TV screens near the bar and on the back wall. The rear half of the bar is raised and has limited seating, a dartboard and more England flags.
The ale choice was focussed on Greene King beers, with Abbot Ale, Old Golden Hen, Westgate Ale Fresco and something called ‘Raglan Ale’ available, but there was a steady guest range of St Austell Dartmoor, Fullers HSB, Portobello VPA and Newby Wyke White Squall. I hadn’t clocked that the Westgate beer was a Greene King brew, so I ended up trying the Ale Fresco, which I actually thought was pretty good.
I liked the nice traditional feel of this place and thought it was one of those pubs you’d be happy enough to have as a reliable local. The ale range drops it a notch or two below Rugby’s finest, but I enjoyed the general ambiance here and would happily return.

Alan Winfield left this review about Raglan Arms

The Raglan Arms is a really nice looking pub that is a short walk from the town centre.
Once inside there was a small snug to the left, plus a larger room to the front right, the main bar room is up a few steps to the rear, this room is oblong shaped and had normal tables and chairs, there is a small raised area to the rear of this room which had a darts board, all rooms are carpeted.
There were 7 real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Fullers Chiswick bitter which was well kept but a bit on the bland side, the other beers were Newby Wyke Slingshot,Gales Seafarer,Old Golden Hen,Old Hoppy Hen,Abbot and a Beer called Raglan Ale.
This is a decent pub,but it was empty on my Saturday dinner visit.

Fairly plain from the outside, this is a multi-roomed pub with a raised area and a fairly homely feel if somewhat nondescript. Eight pumps, Greene King heavy with some guests. My Portobello was a little so-so. Friendly bar service. Didn’t really grab me in the way that a number of other Rugby pubs did but nice enough.

Bucking Fastard left this review about The Raglan Arms

You enter via a central corridor with a snug to the left and a lounge to the right with the bar towards the rear before a raised section on the way to the carpark. At the rear there is an unusual glass window looking into a store room with a couple of unused handpumps. The atmosphere is alehouse but a refurb has been unsympathetic and the snug now has a coal affect gas fire and an ugly exposed brick fireplace ,which was a shame. The furniture was functional but non descript. There are 8 handpumps but for a GBG regular I was disappointed by the range on my trip with lots of GK output (Old Golden Hen,Abbott,a house beer Raglan Original and Ale Fresco with this pump clip having the smallest type face available showing Bury St Edmunds as it's provenance )together with Portobello VPA ,Banks's Lion's Roar and "Gales" HSB.My Ale Fresco was boring and the pint didn't get finished. There are a lot of better real ale houses in town, and I would struggle to raise the enthusiasm for a return visit on the evidence of my brief visit.I hope I caught it on a bad day.
