Will Larter left this review about The Town Talk

I must admit my heart sank on approaching the Town Talk, as there is a prominent Skol sign on the end wall. The façade is more promising, with carved figures (Atlas holding the world on his shoulders, perhaps) on the pillars supporting the porch. Inside, the entrance has been amended to leave only one doorway into the pub, the right hand room ("smoke room", it still says on the windows) being accessed through a drinking corridor to the side of the bar. The bar is magnificent, extending along a wall to the right. Beyond it are two pool tables with proper billiards-hall lighting. The main room has many items of pub ephemera: posters, bills, "rules of the inn", which are maybe slightly over the top, but I liked it here.

The disappointment was to find only one hand pump on the otherwise well appointed bar, and the Fullers London Pride that was being served was pretty poor. This is not necessarily the fault of the bar or cellar staff, as it's a long time since I've had a decent London Pride. The main room is furnished with fairly standard pub furniture, with upholstered bench seating around the walls. The other room is distinguished by green leather seating and black and white photos on the walls. I enjoyed my brief stay here, because as a building and as a pub it's got so much going for it, but a couple of decent real ales would make this a "must visit" pub, which at present it is not.
