Quinno _ left this review about The Salutation Inn
Down from the main road towards the basin of the hill lies this very basic locals boozer over two rooms, split down the centre by the servery. I think originally the right side would have been the lounge but the distinction is blurred now, with only the paintwork (the left bar is green and the right side red) differentiating. Surprised to find the place absolutely rammed on a miserable Sunday evening, with TV football projected onto a whitewashed chimney breast and a raucous but under-control atmosphere. Three pumps with two on, Hobgoblin and Bass. A pint of the latter was dirt cheap at £2.10 and was in fair condition. Apart from us standing out like a pair of sore thumbs amongst tattooed middle-aged geezers and their Primarni wives (the young barmaid also seemed startled to clap eyes on us too but kept it well-hidden) it was decent enough for a working class booozer and it’s good to see a place like this thriving where many others of a similar ilk seem to be withering away.
