This is a very good pub situated on the Coventry Canal and for the canal traveller the best between The Greyhound at Hawkesbury and The Plough at Huddlesford IMHO,all fine establishments. The full range of Everards beers is complemented by an ever changing guest and the welcome was very friendly.A central island bar with a drinking area on the far side from the road with tiled floor and comfortable settles and chairs, a real fireplace and views over the garden,it's easy to settle in here for a session. The rest of the interior is really for dining and there is a steep set of stairs giving access down to the canalside garden.A welcome real ale haven after the relative desert of Atherstone,I will definately return.Quite rightly featured in the GBG.

A decent sized Everards house with a number of different areas for eating and drinking and a large garden by the canal which seems to be a work in progress. The Anchor is a comfortable boozer with a good atmosphere and friendly jovial service from a central bar area. I didn't eat but food seemed to be of the standard pub variety and looked reasonable and substantial.
The full Everards range is offered: Original, Tiger, Beacon and Sunchaser in addition to a rotating guest, Brunswick's Father Mike on our visit. A collection of pump clips around the bar suggests that there have been a wide range of guest beers in varying styles from near and far. The Tiger was excellent and although normally consistent, this was especially good and slipped down well. A fine boozer which thoroughly warrants it's GBG entry.
