Run of the mill edge of town/shopping mall/bypass eatery. Like the other pub six lanes of roaring traffic away it has a canalside location which, at least in theory, invites. Anyway, it's as described below, and despite more changes of management than a second division football club even the aroma remains ten years on.

Ubu and Doombar on the pumps, but given the struggle the punter in front of me had to get an acceptable pint of Ubu I stuck to eurofizz.

Nothing to see here.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Waterside Inn

Canal-side pub diagonally opposite the Moorings, and the less upmarket of the two establishments. Reasonably attractive exterior, with a beer garden at the front and a patio terrace overlooking the water. Inside, it is partially sub-divided into two seating / dining areas on either side of the entrance, all with semi-modern furniture and decor. Three handpumps on the counter, but disappointingly just Pedigree (£3.05) on (with Doom Bar and Bombardier 'available soon', so I actually miss much...).

The Tiller Pin
Another Charles Welles pub. Visible from the canal, but no easy access to the pub on that side of the canal. It means mooring up on the other side and a 5/10 minute trek on the very busy main roads. As previous contributors mention McDonalds hides the way to the pub!
On entering the pub it had the strong aroma of vinegar and was very busy with noisy families.
The menu is your usual chain pub grub, in other words straight from the freezer to microwave!
It did have one good thing two real ales, although on swan neck pumps. We enjoyed our bombardier, but were short measured, but as we weren’t keen to stay it didn’t worry us. We sat outside which was pleasant enough, but doesn’t take advantage of having a view of the canal. It’s not somewhere I’d recommend for a nice place to stop for an hour of two.

The entrance to this pub is shared with a busy MacDonalds. Schoolchildren wandering all over the place.Take care if driving.
The pub is part of The Sizzler brand the food in which is cheap but can be variable .A lot left on plates decided us against eating. The house wine I could not recommend. No real ale but lager was going down a treat with the locals. The place was busy with all ages and plenty of families but it was not to our taste.
Wheelchair access to the pub and disabled toilet is good.

Sorry I cannot recommend this pub. There is no real ale only the holes in the counter where it used to be. We went there as a family for my birthday meal and were most disappointed. We went in and the acrid smoke comming from the kitchen was choking, the fire alarm went off but nobody seemed to mind, I ordered a mixed grill with medium rare steak and it was delivered on a cast iron plate that was so hot it burnt any food which came into contact with it, the steak ended up being very well done, the chicken burnt and the gammon looked like a rasher of bacon. I asked the waiter for english mustard and he brought me French, can you believe that? French? Not really impressed, although the bar service was good.
