Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Star & Garter
Upmarket food-led pub, opened out at some stage to leave an overall 'L'- shape with one of the seating area at a slightly lower level at one end and a dining area at the other. Mixed furniture and decor. Private dining room and roof terrace indicated. Was a Greene King pub, with IPA, St Edmunds, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot still available plus St Austell Liquid Sunshine (£3.50) as a guest from the five handpumps.

The unflattering picture doesn't really show how strange a Green King pub this is - two buildings shunted together and it looks like the top half of the right one has been pushed back - bizarre, but fun. The top is in white, the bottom black.
It is hard to describe really; a large open plan place, in an L-shape, with the far end, where we sat, also being a raised pool table area. The decor is a mix of mainly white, with yellow, brick and wood panel, with wood floor. The old photos, jugs and other ephemera certainly added interest, along with bar football and Sky TV. A mix of traditional and modern, the service was fine, the clientele mixed though more leaning to the studenty age. We ate here and the food was fine and decently priced.
Beer; tap stuff, with GK IPA on handpull, with its sisters of Spekky Hen and H&H Old Trip, which was OK.
Green King isnt my favourite, so i wouldnt seek it out on that score, but the pub was fine - just my personal taste
