The bar is in a converted barn, next to the old farmhouse - available for functions.

Four real ales on - two from Ubu, two from Slaughterhouse. I went for the latter - a decent pint of Saddleback.

Nice enough. Nothing out the ordinary.

It hasn't changed much since I last looked in four years ago: the main difference seems to be the move away from Slaughterhouse. Beers are mainly from Purity now, with an example from Hobson's when we called in. Pity they were all 4.5% plus, a bit too much for more than a pint at lunchtime. It's no longer in the GBG. All that being as it may it's still fair enough if you fancy a walk and a pint in the garden on a summer's day.

October 2010 account:

This was once the farmhouse of Newbold Comyn Farm, which the council bought during the war and has since become a golf course and leisure centre. The farmhouse itself became a riding school for a while but in recent years was converted to the pub we have now. The public bar is in the former stables with the main building serving as function rooms.

It's a bit of a mish-mash inside, lacking any ambience, and trying to have something for everyone, including those wretched sofas, which makes it feel unwelcoming although in fact that's far from the truth. However to me it's more of a summer pub and on a nice day you'd want to be out in the big garden.

It's in the GBG more for the large selection of local beers on tap than the atmosphere, indeed it seems to be a showcase for Slaughterhouse from up the road in Warwick. It needs to smarten itself up a bit to become a destination pub. The Stables needs a sympathetic makeover and some staff attention to detail would help - no-one cleared anything up in the garden, including some broken glass, in the 90 minutes we were there the other afternoon.

In conclusion, a pleasant enough stop if you're out for a walk or have been to the leisure centre, but Leamington offers much better than this, and not far away either.

We stumbled across the Stables bar today by accident, never realised there was a bar between the Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre and Newbold Golf Course in Leamington. We had an excellent time, would go back tomorrow if we didn't have work!

Beer selection was great and the food was top notch! The sort of place you can wind away the hours, taking in the excellent surroundings, comfortable bar and friendly staff. As a family run bar we found it perfect as we had our kids with us and the bar staff all interacted well with us and our little ones!

By far the only bar of its type in Leamington and we will be going back again very soon!!!
