Rob Hunter left this review about The Brewery

This is now The Brewery, offering cask ales by Whitley Bay Brewing Company. Five hand pulls with four on, at the time of my visit yesterday towards the end of lunch time.

Much more of a traditional pub than I was expecting - dark wood, comfortable seating, old school fixtures and fittings. Smelly old school pub bogs. A central bar with the main area to the left and a separate room off to the right. Toilets and access to the enclosed beer garden to the rear.

There was a pool table and dart board. Food is served and seemed to be the usual pub grub.

I had the Dark Knight, £1.85 for a half, a brown ale which was quite pleasant, if unexpectedly hazy. Service was not unfriendly, but somehow felt a bit odd.

Would be happy to return and investigate more of the ale range.

Large pub with a central bar and an ornate interior. 3 real ales on during my visit. The pub has a pool table.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Fitzgeralds

A well run traditional pub offering some decent ales. The main part of the pub consists of a long bar, with a tiled area. There is lots of seating and a raised area. There is a smaller raised section at the end of the bar hosting a pool table. From the the main bar you walk through into the chart room, which displays local maps and nautical memorabilia. I enjoyed the High House Farm Pullet Please and Leeds Samba.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Fitzgeralds

Having walked down to the seafront from the Metro station, and then half-way back again, I'd almost given up on finding somewhere vaguely civilised for a pint. However, after the very dubious looking establishments along South Parade, I thought that Fitzgeralds looked rather more promising despite a bit of peeling paint. Once inside, you find a fine traditional pub with many interesting features and a good selection of real ale (including a nice pint of Beamish Bitter from the Stables microbrewery).
