I didn't know really what to make of this pub. At some stage it seemed to have been a country style local village pub, but now it looked more like a music venue establishment, with the atmosphere and lighting quite dark and gloomy.
There wasn't a single person in here on our Saturday afternoon visit, even had to wait ages for a staff member to appear. Beer wise no cask ale, predominately keg on tap.
Large beer garden at the rear and the locals said that they do good food in here.

I recently visited the North East for the first time in 16 years. Accompanied by my nephew and son in law we went to the Half Moon for a couple of drinks two weeks ago prior to going to Prague the next day. I was impressed with the ambience and decor of the pub. The John Smith's was terrific value for money and a good tasting pint. The log fire was a welcome surprise and the management were first class. I look forward to a return visit soon, if only for a game of darts and a pint.

My wife and I stopped by the Half Moon Inn in Ryton on our way to Hadrian’s Wall and were very impressed with the welcome we received and the excellent choice of real ales.
The staff really knew their stuff and we spent a very pleasurable hour or so in front of a blazing log fire with the daily papers. Best of all, though, was that the pub’s dog friendly policy meant our Labrador was welcome too!

Great alternative to the Jolly's or the Cross. Much the same as the others, though after it's re-fit it did look a little like a Starbuck, but time and wear is bringing back the character.
