Blue Scrumpy left this review about Turks Head

Greene King pub located at the far end of Front Street from Tynemouth station and close to the ruins of Tynemouth Priory & Castle. Its location makes it a good place to start or finish a crawl of the town, as Front Street itself has a good range of bars and pubs to try.

The large front room had just 2 other customers on my Thursday morning visit. They both appeared to be American. Whilst I didn't venture into the rear room, it was apparent that there were other customers there. The stuffed dog, takes pride of place adjacent to the bar, whilst TVs showing various sports are scattered around the front room liberally. There are darts boards in two of the corners.

Greene King IPA is the regular ale here. Yardbird & Old Speckled Hen were also available from the Greene King stable. The guest beer was Consett Ale Works Steeltown Bitter. 4 handpulls to the left-hand side of the bar were all clipped with various ciders from Lilley's. However, with 3 "coming soon", the solitary one available was Rhubarb Cider. A CAMRA discount is available, but only on the ales, contrary to the information showing on Whatpub.

ROB Camra left this review about Turks Head Hotel

Known locally as "The Stuffed Dog" it is obvious why as there is a stuffed dog behind a glass panel to the left as you enter. Two nicely decorated rooms with a short drinking corridor between them. The rear room only has about 6 tables and is quite plush. The front room is larger and a bit more basic, but still neat. Both rooms have large screen TVs for sport. The outside is all white tiled and has stained glass windows. 6 beers available during our visit and my pint of Tynebank Single Blonde was in good nick. We were served by a friendly barmaid and also got a 10% CAMRA discount off the beers.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Turks Head Hotel

A traditional pub consisting of well worn boards and original dark mahogany bar. The pub is known as the stuffed dog to the locals, as there is a real stuffed dog in a display cabinet to the left of the bar. The Cullercoats Brewery Lovely Nelly was excellent.
