My friends and I went for dinner in December 2010 and wow what a change... I haven't been to the place for a few years and the minute we entered the property you could see it had improved... much brighter and the staff were happy and extremely helpful. We had meal that you would expect in a restaurant not a pub... Well done to the chef... No frozen reheated rubbish here. I would really recomend this venue for a truely lovely experience. WELL DONE NORTHUMBRIAN PIPER !!!

I recently moved to the area and I found this pub almost by mistake when out on my bike as its so well hidden in its own mature trees that if you didnt know it was there you might not find it.
the place is fantastic from the gardens to the interiors it is class. The food I had too was great I recommend the Gammon steak. I understand its privately owned by a local couple who have had it about 18 months . Well worth a visit tho beats all the rest of the local pub s hands down

John Griffin left this review about Northumbrian Piper

For decades, the Northumbrian Piper has remained one of Gosforth’s best kept secrets, serving as a welcoming watering hole for residents of the town’s Red House Farm Estate and the surrounding areas. But now the word is officially out and discerning diners from across the region are discovering the culinary treasures of this stunning, hidden gem.

Nestling in its own tree-lined garden, close to the A1, the Northumbrian Piper combines all the conveniences of the contemporary city with a unique country-style feel, perfect for a relaxing get-together with family and friends or an uninterrupted business lunch.

Re-launched by its owners John and Lynne Griffin earlier this year, this historic venue now offers home cooking at its absolute best, with a mouthwatering menu of traditional favourites and modern cuisine, combining effortlessly to cater for all tastes and occasions.

Starters on offer range from oriental-style Thai fish cakes to the popular potato wedges with bacon and cheese, while the comforting main courses cover everything from beef lasagne and sirloin steak, to Mexican chilli con carne and Thai green chicken curry.

The Northumbrian Piper also has a complete snack menu, including beef burgers, jacket potatoes and hot or cold sandwiches served in fresh bread. And for younger customers, the venue offers a special children’s menu, with a choice of five main meals and an ice-cream dessert for just £3.95.

For more information contact The Northumbrian Piper direct on 0191 285 6793.
