Nice little pub. It was a bit busy as it was straight after the match but 3 ales on including Cullercoats Polly Donkin and Great North Eastern Rivet Catcher. The name of the third escapes me but something like Mount Hood? Anyway, the service was good as was the beer. Worth popping in.

A nice little traditional pub which I suspect might be another of the Crafted Projects pubs as it has the same gloomy dark green decor and monochrome murals as Lady Greys, but it does keep some interesting brews on. I had the Cullercoats Polly Donkin stout, which was good. Worth finding, except possibly on match days.

Brainy Pool left this review about Newcastle Arms

A likeable single roomed traditional pub. not much to note about the interior but staff and customers were friendly and much of the atmosphere revolves around the digital jukebox, which I had some fun with. A few real ales from nearby Cullercoats plus Doom Bar on this occasion.

Had a quick couple of beers in this 2010 Good Beer Guide pub as we were running out of time to catch a bus. Will be popular on match days as close to St James Park. Both the Big Lamp Golden Star and the Consett Black Bob were in good condition.
The above was in August 2010, and the pub is still a good real ale pub and is in the 2012 Good Beer Guide. We enjoyed beers from Big Lamp, Summer Wine and Brew Star breweries at this visit.

Very good range of real ales, good traditional pub. Tucked away on the right at the top end of Chinatown, if you were walking to St James Park. Hope they have some more Wensleydale Gold next visit.

A real great bar specialising in quality and varied real ales from round the UK. The bar has a quality guarantee and holds regular beer festivals. Don't miss this place.

Traditional city centre local with an excellent range of ever changing guest beers. I've never had a poor pint in here and I've been in a lot. Has two TVs only showing sport, two quiz machines and plenty of comfortable seating. Can get pretty busy when ANY match is on TV never mind Newcastle. Highly recommended for the beer.
