Malden man left this review about The Bells Of Peover

A historic, labyrinthine old pub in a secluded rural setting situated down a cobbled lane and next to the ancient St Oswald's church. The white washed exterior has a large wisteria of some age twisting all over the frontage, the gable wall has a crest with the coat of arms of the former landowners the de Tabley family. A Union flag and a Stars and Stripes fly, commemorating a WW2 meeting held here between General Patton and Eisenhower.
As you enter the small bar is ahead, slightly to the right with a snug like seating area in front with settle-like benches, stone flooring, a pair of copper topped tables and a log burning fire. To the left, beyond a staircase is the Patton Room, this has button backed sofas as well as chairs, dining tables, militaria on the walls as well as a display of pebbles. Behind the bar are a pair of separate areas which seemed geared up for dining, the furthest to the right feeling more modern with pastel shades and modern furniture.
Food is clearly a big player here and although we didn't eat we looked at the menu which appealed. Robinson's beers here, three on, Dizzy Blonde, Double Hop and Cumbria Way. A very nice pub indeed, the large garden across the car park looked the part. Worth seeking out even if it is tricky without your own transport, a more eclectic beer choice could make this a stand out location.
